March, 2025 - New York, NY - Snarky Elephant Productions (SEP) continues its mission to champion underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry with the announcement of its 2025 Incubator Program cohort and the addition of esteemed leaders to its board.  

 

The 2025 Cohort includes

Craig T. Williams: Award-winning writer, producer, and editor, named as Gotham Film and Media Institute’s 2024 Series Creator to Watch, and currently serving as Executive Director of Men of Color Unite. Williams and SEP will be developing his feature narrative Black Boys Don’t Sew with critically acclaimed actress Viola Davis set to Executive Produce, focused on African American Identity and bipolar Disorder.

 

Mia Henry: Emmy Award-nominated and Pulitzer Prize finalist documentary producer, Peabody Award recipient, and Critics' Choice Documentary Award for Best Biographical Documentary and the Cinema Eye Honors for Outstanding Achievement in a Debut Feature Film nominee.

 

Monica Villamizar: Colombian-American filmmaker, producer, and TV correspondent; has received multiple Emmy Awards and nominations, known for her work on documentaries such as Transition and The First Wave and her coverage on global conflicts and humanitarian issues.

 

Since its inception, SEP’s incubator program has supported a truly diverse range of

human experiences, with 100% coming from underrepresented communities, more than

70% identifying as women and/or genderqueer, and multiple projects exploring mental

health, identity, and cultural and family values. This signals a growing trend in Western

storytelling that embraces global perspectives.

 

Momentum from Past Successes

Building on its legacy, SEP’s incubator program continues to support groundbreaking

storytelling. Recent successes include:


  •  Christian Moldes – Selected for the 2024 Sundance Development Lab and one

    of eight writers chosen for the 2024 Film Independent Episodic Lab.

  • Shruti Parekh – Her short film Zari won both the Grand Jury Award and

    Audience Award at NewFest’s NYC World Premiere, was nominated for Best

    Narrative Short at the Austin Film Festival, and was one of four winners of the

    Julia S. Gouw Short Film Challenge (co-presented by CAPE USA and Janet

    Yang Productions).

  • Roshdy Ahmed – His feature Is This All of You? was selected for the Cairo

    International Film Festival’s Film Independent program and Italy’s Mercato

    Internazionale Audiovisivo (MIA) program.

 

New Board Members and Leadership Additions

SEP’s cohort is supported by an esteemed board of producers, creatives, and industry

professionals from organizations such as Culture House, Netflix, and Carhartt, including

award winners, nominees, and leaders within the Academy of Television Arts &

Sciences. Newest additions to the board include:


  • Jamie Kramer – Former Lionsgate and Sony Pictures executive

  • Jessica Estelle Huggins – Emmy-nominated Filmmaker and Producer, Director

  • of Activation & Community Engagement at Embrace Boston

  • Joseph Garel – Western Film Services, Film Distribution Sales & Film

  • Programming Specialist

  • Karla Martin – Named one of the Most Influential Women; current board member

  • at Ramy Brook and Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty

  • Stephen Rocco Rodi – Former Meta communications executive


Additionally, in 2024, Taylor Durham, a seasoned filmmaker with over a decade of

experience leading innovation across sectors, joined SEP as its CMO. Durham also

serves as the Director of Marketing & Digital Studios at the University of Pennsylvania's

Venture Lab.
